7 Best Time Management Tips For Growing Your Home Business Online When You’re Short On Time

 Do you ever feel like your job or some other obligation is taking over your life and preventing you from focusing on your business?

Life happens and it can cause you to lose sight of your business sometimes. So how can we as business owners build a business even when the job or other obligations leave us with very little time to work on our businesses?

For instance, right now at my job, we have just taken over a new treatment plant and things have not settled as yet.

It means that I and other staff members are working some crazy hours and for a time l was not able to focus fully on my business.

To top it off, I was also dealing with a health issue.

 In this blog, I  will be sharing what helped me to keep the business moving almost on autopilot and what can help you continue getting customers and sign-ups even if you don’t have a lot of time to spend on your network marketing or affiliate marketing business.

Refocus on Your Home Business  and Mentally Refuel

 Here the main thing is to make a decision about your business and commit to it.

What decision?

The decision to get back on track with your home business.

It is easy to start supposing where you could have been in your business but that is just unproductive.

Don’t beat yourself up over it. Just continue from where you left off.

If you need a bit more motivation to start working on your home business then maybe it is time to revisit why you started the business in the first place. For me, it was to retire early and have more control over my time. 

It is so easy to get back into the routine and safety chains of the job, isn’t it?.  I still find it unbelievable that I was paid 3x my salary in one month.

Let’s be real, it is only normal for anyone to start looking at the job differently especially if you have not yet started making money consistently in your business.

If you are in  a similar place right now, please keep these things in mind:

  1. It  is only temporary
  1. It is not sustainable.
  1. You’re simply exchanging more time for money
  1. It takes a toll on your health and increases the rate of ageing.
  1.  You will have less control over your time and even less of a life.
  1. You don’t even have time to enjoy the money.

  It is a good time to revisit some of those business motivational videos and audios to re-energize the entrepreneur in you.

 Expanding your vision and working on your self-image and mindset is also continuous work so that you don’t get stuck in your comfort zone.

 Block Out Time for  Your Home Business

 You will have time for what  you make the time.

Many people say they don’t have the time but we know that you will always find time for what you consider important.

You have to make your home business a priority. 

 Look at your schedule and how much time you can reasonably devote to your business.

For example

 Maybe 2 hours, 3 to 5 days per week or your lunch hour. It could be just 1 hour a day.

For me, it meant squeezing in tasks during my using work breaks since I don’t have a lunch hour. If you are working mom, you may have to sacrifice your lunch hour and finish your business activities for the day after children are asleep. 

 I would also mention,  doing a weekly schedule would be super helpful especially if you are working a shift job. As you make your schedule, ensure you put one of your business slots to catch up with anything that was not finished previously. 

You should also add in non-negotiables like family time, self-care slot (even if it is just 20 mins) and chores.

Whatever your schedule is remember if you don’t make time for it, it won’t get done.


 Be Intentional With Your Time Slot For Your Home Business

 After you schedule a time for your business, you need to make it count. You can’t afford wasting time wondering what to do.

You need to be clear and intentional with what you have to do in your business each day.

Use your time wisely.

Each week you should be growing your network, engaging and building relationships with your audience and effectively promoting your products or business opportunity.  Hence, you need to identify the tasks relevant to these areas as part of your daily or weekly mode of operation.

These are the income generating activities of your business. These actions will continually move the bottom line of your business which is the cash flow.


 For instance, during my work breaks, I used the time to connect with people, respond to messages and book zoom calls. While I created most of the content at home.

 Another thing you might also want to consider is content batching like recording 3 or 4 videos at a time.

I would suggest that you make your business time slot count by being fully engaged with the task at hand. Remove the distractions. It may also mean saying no to people and other things that could take away your attention during the time you have allotted for your business.

There are no hard and fast rules here. You just need to make it work for you and your business lifestyle.

I truly believe that business needs to fit into your life rather than your life be dominated by your business.

Track The Numbers In Your Home Business and Evaluate

Make Data Driven Decisions

 For many of the actions we take, the results are not instantly visible. Thus it is easy for us business owners to get caught up in our emotions.

“I am doing all this work yet nothing is working!”

Sounds familiar?

We need to take emotions out of it and instead use data to assess what is working and what is not working so we can make the necessary adjustments.

Track everything

 The data or information I am referring to specifically are metrics or numbers. Your business goals will determine your tasks and hence what numbers you need to monitor.

It is a numbers game. It is all about the numbers.

Each task has a measurable objective, for example, the number of new connections, number of daily conversations, number of new subscribers,  number of new business partners, number of new customers and so on.

 On a weekly or monthly basis, keep track of  tasks and outcomes. The numbers will show the true story and they may tell a different story to the one you have been telling yourself.

 Some things that may help your decisions are:

  1. Where are most of your leads coming from?
  1. Which platform is giving you the most leads and sales?
  1.  What type of content does your audience engage with the most?
  1. Which product is responsible for most of your sales.
  1. How many new customers are added per week?
  1. How many new business builders join the team per month?

Then ask yourself:

  • What 3 things that worked?
  • What  2 things that didn’t work?
  • What might I do differently to get the desired result?

 That was something I got from a Mentor JT Debolt specialized in personal development and leadership. Those questions help you to stay in evaluation mode and out of judgement mode. In the latter, the brain is stressed which causes the creative and problem solving functions to shut down.

That doesn’t help matters, does it?

So stay in evaluation mode and keep tweaking and testing until you get your desired results. Then rinse and repeat.

 Add Automation To Your Home Business

Invest in Yourself -Training and Skillsets

 Something is hard only for those who can not do it effectively or don’t want to do it!

If you are like me, in the beginning, I watched tons of YouTube videos trying to learn things and you know what I found? It is very time consuming and unproductive to be stuck in learning mode.

Also with all the conflicting information out there, I became overwhelmed and confused and too paralyzed to actually take action.

 Obviously , you have to be strategic about buying courses so that you buy what you need at the right time for your business. Yet investing in training from an expert can save you a lot of time and put you in income generating mode much faster than  ‘so-called free’ information. Your time is no renewable nor is your time free.

 Great entrepreneurs continually learn and invest in themselves.

Yes, a system that allows the business to run without you in it all the time.
