Whatever your reason,  there are a couple of things you should know before getting frustrated, overwhelmed and the feeling  of being a failure drives YOU to completely QUIT. I mean really quit for good this time.

So what is the difference between offline and online?

Network marketing also called multilevel marketing, is a business model where persons  refer other persons to an exclusive brand of products or sell products supplied by MLM companies and get paid profits and a commission.  Persons also get a paid, when someone joins the opportunity, consider it a referral fee.

That is on a hobby level. If you want a  serious income, then you need to think and treat your business opportunity as a REAL business. That takes effort, time, skills, education and investment.

At this level, you understand you own a  business providing products such as jewellery, skincare, makeup or health products and so on.

Your business has partnered with a particular company that supplies you with high-quality products not easily available in stores and gives you an incentive to move their products. The company also compensates you for training and mentoring other business owners that also decide to promote their products.  A win-win situation.

Compared to a traditional brick and mortar, you realize in network marketing there are 3 distinctive ways to get paid.

I am not going to debate with anyone on why network marketing works, and neither should you.

This post is to support your decision to have a business using the network marketing model and more than that, provide  more efficient options to build your business without bugging family and friends.

We refer and recommend stuff all the time. It completely amazes me how a person’s perspective completely changes as soon as money is involved.

I believe that is because of our money mindset. This can get really skewed particularly  for most persons

What is Internet marketing?

Internet marketing or online or digital marketing is the process of promoting a business or brand or products or services over the internet using tools that  increase the following:

  1. The number of eyeballs on your product or opportunity. This is called traffic.
  2. The number of persons indicating interest that is going through the (invitation), presentation and follow up process. The persons are called leads while the process is called a funnel.
  3. The number of teammates enrolled and product sales.

Internet marketing is a broad umbrella for a number of strategies and tactics; social media marketing, blogging, email marketing, video marketing, advertising and more. Each has its own rules, skillsets and language.

Each tactic can work yet it is best to focus on 1 specific tactic to achieve maximum results.

Major similarity  between network marketing  and internet marketing

Yet, no matter what tactic you use, all successful tactics  are based on the following 3 concepts:

  1. Grow your audience. ( expand your network and your list)
  2. Engage with your audience ( prospect)
  3. Promote to your audience (Invite, present, follow up, close and launch)

One of the biggest misconceptions about using online marketing for network marketing.

Some persons turn to the internet because they don’t want to talk to people or  are quite frankly, petrified to talk to people because among several reasons, they can’t handle rejection.

Remember this, people join network marketing for a variety of reasons.  A major one is a positive environment and being part of a bigger mission outside of themselves. Hence the importance of the human element and connection.

The internet can seem distant, cold and lonely as many feel isolated behind a lifeless screen. People are hungry for human connections and authenticity.

Using particular online marketing strategies, you  do not have actually talk to anyone. But before that thought takes root and you feel like you ditched the dreaded bullet…

Let me remind you that network marketing is a people business. You can never run away from that. People join people  and not the company.

You still have to talk to people and build relationships. The secret to online marketing is knowing how to talk to people using words, written or spoken. Hiding behind your computer is not really an option for MLM. You still have to build relationships.

You are not  just relying solely on traditional methods, face to face or belly to belly. Internet network marketing allows you to prospect, invite, present and follow up without ever leaving your house.

Even more than that,  online strategies allow you prospect  more than one person at the same time from  home. A true home based business.

No more time wasting at the mall unless going for a personal reason. Yet you have to realize that online marketing has its own sets of skills.

As I said earlier, online marketing is a large beast and can be divided into free ( active) or passive (paid) strategies but to give you a  clear picture, let’s choose one type of internet marketing: social media marketing.

Active social media recruiting

You can actually implement this method right away.

With social media recruiting, you honestly don’t have to learn much of anything.  

You can start implementing  proven social media recruiting strategies today to build your network marketing business.

In fact, this strategy is basically equitable to what you’d do offline, except you’re transposing the process online.

The challenge with social media is you’re always busy…

  • You’re always posting.
  • You’re always engaging.
  • You’re always interacting with people.

It produces results quickly (and it can produce massive results), and you can duplicate it quickly, but it can be time intensive if not managed properly.


I know that natural inclination using social media is post all about the products and the company you have partnered. Please resist or stop doing that immediately.

Also do not send  links to products or presentations without permission. (LinkedIn is different). That is called spamming on Facebook. People may unfriend you or block you. Your social feed cannot look like a commercial.

  • You have to be social.
  • You have to engage people with posts that create curiosity.
